The Practitioner-in-Training Program gives Australian students and trainees 50 percent off AI Scribe pricing for the duration of their training. If you have a valid .edu.au email address, you can access the same AI-powered transcription and clinical note generation used by practising professionals — at half the cost.

Why We Built This

Clinical placements are demanding. A psychology trainee on placement might see four or five clients in a day, attend supervision, complete case formulations, write progress notes, draft letters to referrers, and study for exams — all while working unpaid or on a modest stipend.

The tools available to students are typically either free-but-inadequate or priced for established practitioners earning full-time incomes. A $39/month subscription is reasonable for a practitioner billing $200 per session. It is a different proposition entirely for a student living on Austudy.

The Practitioner-in-Training Program is open to anyone with a valid .edu.au email address. This includes:

• Postgraduate trainees completing registrar programs, internships, or supervised practice requirements
• Provisional registrants with AHPRA or relevant registration boards who are still completing supervised practice hours
• Education professionals completing teaching qualifications, school counselling degrees, or educational psychology programs

If your university or training institution issues you a .edu.au email address, you are eligible. We do not require proof of enrolment beyond the email verification — the .edu.au domain itself serves as validation.

Student pricing is straightforward: 50 percent off the standard monthly price for Plus and Core tiers.

Student Plus — $10/month (normally $19/month)

Best for trainees seeing a moderate number of clients during placement.

After your trial, student pricing applies automatically. You will be billed $10/month (Student Plus) or $20/month (Student Core) plus GST.

Program Duration and Re-verification

The Practitioner-in-Training Program lasts for up to 2 years from the date of enrolment. This covers the typical duration of a postgraduate degree, internship, or supervised practice period.

At the 2-year mark, we will ask you to re-verify your .edu.au email address. If you are still in training (many clinical psychology programs run 3 to 4 years, for example), you can renew for another period. If your .edu.au email is no longer active, you will transition to standard pricing.

We do not cut you off without warning. You will receive email notifications at 23 months, and again at the 2-year mark, with clear instructions on how to re-verify or transition your account.

Graduation Discount — Educator Pricing for Your First Year in Practice

Finishing your training does not mean losing your discount entirely. When you graduate or complete your supervised practice requirements, you are eligible for a graduation discount on regular Grounded Scribe pricing for one full year.

The graduation discount applies to any AI Scribe tier, including Pro and Max — not just the tiers available at student pricing. This gives newly qualified practitioners room to scale up their plan as their caseload grows, without immediately paying full price during the financially uncertain first year of independent practice.

To activate the graduation discount, simply update your email to your professional address and let our support team know you have completed your training. We will apply the discount manually.

What happens when I graduate?

You transition to graduation discount pricing for one year, then standard pricing after that. You will receive advance notice before any pricing changes take effect on your account.

Can I upgrade from Student Plus to Student Core mid-billing?

Yes. You can upgrade at any time and the price difference is prorated. You can also upgrade to Student Core and later transition to any regular tier.

Is the 14-day trial really free?

Yes. No credit card is required to start the trial. You get full access to your chosen student tier for 14 days. If you do not add a payment method, your account simply moves to the free tier (10 sessions/month) after the trial ends.

Can I use Grounded Scribe on placement?

Yes, provided your placement site permits audio recording and you obtain appropriate client consent. Does the student discount apply to the AI Receptionist?
